UF/IFAS and Florida Sea Grant have developed a curriculum for teachers to use aquaculture as a tool to teach science, math and vocational skills.
The lesson plans incorporate all aspects of instruction from experimentation to concept development to formal assessment. The curriculum builds on individual learning styles and encourages students to use critical thinking and problem solving skills while participating in individual and collaborative group projects.
Teach Aquaculture is appropriate for middle school, high school and informal educators. The program has been implemented in schools throughout the state. The Teach Aquaculture Curriculum is available online for free to the public through the UF/IFAS Teach Aquaculture website: https://irrec.ifas.ufl.edu/teachaquaculture/
