NOAA Harmful Algal Bloom Liaison
Betty Staugler is working to mitigate harmful algal blooms nationwide by helping to expand and improve forecasting tools. As the Harmful Algal Bloom Liaison, she coordinates harmful algal bloom communications in collaboration with Sea Grant, National Centers for Coastal Ocean Science (NCCOS) and NOAA CoastWatch. Leveraging her strong connections through the Sea Grant network and her extensive experience working with scientists, stakeholders, and the public, she applies an eager optimism to her charge of developing new data-driven communication tools that better serve the decision-makers addressing this growing and significant threat facing our nation’s coasts and communities.
