As part of the 2015 Florida Sea Grant Newell Seminar Series, Joyce Shaw, head librarian at Gunter Library at the Gulf Coast Research Laboratory and an associate professor at the University of Southern Mississippi will be visiting the Mote Marine Laboratory and Aquarium to give a lecture titled, “Scholarly Publishing and Open Access: Perils, Promises and Peer Review.”
The free program will take place Monday, May 4, at noon in the Buchanan room at Mote Marine Laboratory. The public is invited to attend.
The lecture will outline the perils and promises of open access publishing including predatory publishers, open access models, emerging alternatives for measuring impact, and how libraries are engaged in shaping the future of scholarly publishing.
