Significant changes have occurred to the National Flood Insurance Program with passage of the Biggert-Waters Flood Insurance Reform Act of 2012. County and municipal planners, floodplain managers, decision makers and members of the public interested in in learning more about the changes can attend a one-day workshop in the Tampa Bay area on Wednesday, Nov. 13, from 9 am to 3:30 pm.
The workshop is designed to provide an overview of the National Flood Insurance Program, the changes resulting from Biggert-Waters and the new Community Rating System manual.
The workshop will also include a review of effective mitigation strategies and the Coastal Resilience Index tool. An interactive, facilitated panel discussion will provide an opportunity for attendees to ask questions pertaining to the course content.
The event is open to all interested public, but is intended primary for floodplain administrators, CRS coordinators, government officials, community leaders, and public works staff. The workshop is approved for 4.5 CFM CECs and AICP credits, which are pending.
