The first of the 2015 Florida Sea Grant Newell Seminar Series features Lisa Benjamin, an assistant professor of law at the University of the West Indies/College of the Bahamas, who will be visiting the University of Florida to give a lecture titled, “A Greener Future for Caribbean Constitutions?”
The free program will take place Thursday, February 12, from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. in Room 270 of the Holland Law Center at the Levin College of Law. The public is invited to attend.
Benjamin teaches courses in environmental, company, trade and intellectual property law. She is a lawyer by training and a member of the Compliance Committee (Facilitative Branch) of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change, the Bahamas National Climate Change Committee, and the Public Education and Outreach Subcommittee of the National Climate Change Committee.
Since 2008 she has been investigating the role of law in development. Her current research looks at climate change in small island developing states, Caribbean environmental law, the role of companies in climate change, and trade and environmental law.
