Update: The Budget and Sea Grant
In both chambers of Congress, the new proposed budgets equal or exceed Sea Grant’s 2017 budget. While the federal budget has many steps before it is finalized, this is great news, especially after the final version of the President’s FY18 budget eliminated Sea Grant.
An Updated Message from the Director of Florida Sea Grant
On May 23, the final version of the President’s budget was released, and as expected, the funding for Sea Grant is eliminated, along with funding for the National Estuarine Research Reserves, the Coastal Zone Management Program and many other programs that provide critical services to the US coastal economy and environment.
