Artificial reef coordinators, managers and fisheries scientists are invited to a public artificial reef workshop April 18 in Cedar Key to discuss new research, initiatives and updates to artificial reef strategy for Florida’s North Central region.
The workshop is from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Cedar Key Community Center, 809 6th Street. For those who cannot attend in person, the workshop will also be streamed live on Facebook on the Florida Artificial Reefs Facebook page.
In addition to county and statewide updates, the agenda includes presentations on:
- A regional review of proposed RESTORE Act funding for artificial reef deployments
- Nature Coast Biological Station and collaborative opportunities for the region
- Cataloging available inter-agency benthic mapping data sets in the Gulf of Mexico
Registration is available online (https://www.eventbrite.com/e/north-central-florida-artificial-reef-workshop-tickets-43491129138) and will also be available onsite. The cost is $20 and includes breakfast snacks, coffee, lunch and handout materials. No cash or check payments will be accepted.
On Tuesday, April 17, at 5 p.m. attendees are also welcome to join an informal social at the Nature Coast Biological Station, 552 1st Street in Cedar Key.
