Florida Sea Grant and the Florida Outdoor Writer’s Association are now seeking applications for the 2016 FOWA Scholarship for Outdoor Communicators.
The $1,000 scholarships are competitive and open to students at Florida colleges and universities, or to any student whose application is endorsed by a FOWA member or a faculty advisor. These scholarships are intended for college-aged students whose career goals are to communicate to the public appreciation for hunting, fishing and other aspects of the outdoor experience.
Past recipients include Austin Gallagher, who was recently was named to the Forbes 30 Under 30 list in science for his work as an ocean scientist and talented communicator and Jennifer Adler, who is now conducting a project funded by the National Geographic Young Explorer’s program to educate people about the Florida Springs.
