Three funding opportunities for up to $13.5 million in aquaculture research have been announced by the National Sea Grant College Program of the U.S. Department of Commerce. The opportunities address distinct aspects of domestic aquaculture and bear different deadlines for letters of intent.
The national office will give a free question-and-answer information webinar open to the public on Monday, March 4, at 3 pm EST about the three opportunities. Attendees can register or join at https://register.gotowebinar.com/register/5609018228716430859.
The three opportunties are:
- At least $9 million to advance aquaculture in areas where a foundation of knowledge and activity currently exists but where significant barriers to sustainable domestic marine and Great Lakes aquaculture remain. Letters of intent are due April 15, 2019. See details at Advanced Aquaculture Collaborative Programs.
- Approximately $1.5 million to support diverse, and at times, high-risk, developmental projects that will envision, explore and advance aquaculture opportunities where a minimal foundation currently exists. - Approximately $3 million to support research to address critical gaps in social, behavioral, and economic knowledge as it relates to U.S. aquaculture and the communities impacted and served by it.
