Congress passed laws in both 2012 and 2014 that made changes to the National Flood Insurance Program. The 2014 eliminated some parts of the 2012 changes, modified some parts of it, and left other parts of the 2012 law as they were. The changes have created confusion for those trying to understand what the changes really mean for flood insurance premiums. Florida Sea Grant has responded by creating some materials on the changes to the NFIP as well as bringing together several different resources that help explain the changes. Below are resources for both “Property Owners” and “Real Estate Professionals.” In addition, there are links to presentations given to public audiences and to real estate professionals in Florida’s panhandle in August 2014.
PowerPoint Presentations on Changes to the NFIP
These two presentations are very similar as they both seek to help shed light on how premiums may change for different types of properties under the new 2012 and 2014 laws.
